One of the most attractive solar incentives for customers, Net Metering, will be going away for Ameren customers by the end of this year.

This incentive allows Ameren customers to “sell” excess energy back to their electric companies in exchange for a credit to offset future energy usage and lower their monthly bill. After Net Metering goes away, energy credit sales will be at wholesale price instead of the previously set 1:1 rate. In order to be eligible for Ameren’s Net Metering Policy, customers must have the system installed and interconnected prior to Dec. 31st, 2024.

This makes it a prime time to consider the potential benefits of installing a solar array and being “grandfathered” into this policy.
