The Efforts of the Bureau of Land Management

The Energy Act of 2020 authorized the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to make moves in effort to advance clean energy initiatives. After this, BLM now is looking to further fuel the growth of wind and solar development on public land by expanding its capacity to accept leasing applications. This allows them to facilitate an increase in the production of clean energy and significantly reduce the overall costs associated with expanding solar and wind farms.

Since the start of 2021, the Bureau of Land Management has demonstrated its commitment to a greener future by approving 35 renewable energy projects. Among these projects are 10 solar initiatives, 8 geothermal projects, and 17 transmission projects connecting renewable facilities to the grid. This surge in approvals not only underscores the agency's dedication to clean and renewable energy sources but is also a step further to achieving Biden’s green energy plan by 2035.
